Downtown Vancouver, BC
This renovation of a typical 1960’s West End residential building is a response to a study of the elements of contemporary
apartment living. Four model units were designed to break the static geometry of the facade and inflexible interior spatial
arrangements. The additions push the most programmed elements of each apartment to the periphery to take advantage of light,
air and views. Meanwhile, interconnected relationships, both spatially and psychologically are developed between apartments,
inefficient space from one unit is absorbed by adjacent apartments, creating a building with rich social and visual intricacies.
