GO!: A Temporary Gallery for Permanant Change
800 tranlucent umbrellas, structural steel plates, ss cable, LEDs
Located in Vancouver's historic Chinatown, this collaborative project is part of
BrightLight, a public art celebration taking place in Feburary and March of 2010. Consisting of over 800 umbrellas, this floating canopy highlights the community's last urban courtyard while allowing for a number of exciting programs to take place - historic tours, digital light shows, Mah Jong lessons, and karaoke to name a few. This project acts not only to celebrate 70 years of the Chinese Yue Shan Society and Chinese New Year but to reveal fantastic spaces to the city as a whole. Designed, curated, and hosted by Organelle,
ASIR Studio and
Rural Urban Fantasy Project. Sponsored by the
City of Vancouver and Vancity. Many thanks to all of our support team and volunteers!
